"My aim is as simple to express as difficult to attain: equate Beethoven."

Marius Raphaelius is a composer of classical and rock music based in Porto, Portugal. He plays piano and bass guitar.

For training, Marius has attended the prestigeous Academia de Amadores de Música (Lisbon), but he is mostly selftaught. He sustains a classical approach to music: even for rock, he writes the full score for all instruments. Then he partners with professional musicians to record and tour.

In the 1980's Marius has lead rock and prog groups in the Lisbon area. In the 1990's and 2000's, Marius's musical appearances were rare, as he was fulltime in another occupation (computer scientist). Nevertheless he has reponded to a few commissions, notably with a string quartet premiered in 1999. In the 2010's Marius has made a comeback as a rocker, partnering with American musicians Michael Duran and Grant Starr to top the internet charts. Currently Marius is giving piano recitals and recording rock and prog in Porto, Portugal.
